Invisalign Customization With Dr. Lauren Biernacki
The treatment plan for each Invisalign patient is very personal and based on your individual mouth. First, we take a three-dimensional scan of your teeth and then design, through Invisalign software, how we want your teeth to shift.
Your treatment plan is completely customized for you, which is why most of the information we provide is an estimate. We typically say the average duration of Invisalign treatment is six months to a year. However, some cases can be shorter or longer depending on the movement needed for your teeth.
Invisalign aligners generally fit comfortably. If you ever experience a sharp spot or any sort of issue, please let us know. This rarely happens because the aligners are made using 3D imaging and 3D printing, ensuring a good fit.
We begin Invisalign treatment by taking a 3D scan of your mouth using our iTero scanner, which is compatible with Invisalign software. This provides a digital image that is sent directly to the lab, avoiding the distortions that can occur with traditional goopy impressions. This method ensures a much more accurate fit, and we have almost never had a patient say their aligner didn’t fit properly.
Invisalign works by making small movements with each aligner in a sequence, with different teeth moving at different times. This process is mapped out ahead of time using technology that incorporates data from previous cases. We can predict how teeth will move as we apply specific pressures, making the treatment very accurate.
At the end of the treatment, we often scan for refinements to fine-tune everything, as everyone is a little different. Refinements are always included as part of the treatment to perfect the results. I always inform patients that while this is their initial treatment plan, they might have a few additional aligners at the end just to perfect everything.
Personalized Invisalign Treatment: A Guide by Dr. Lauren Biernacki
Welcome to Brownstown Dental Care, located in the heart of Brownstown, MI. I’m Dr. Lauren Biernacki, and today I want to provide you with an in-depth look at Invisalign treatment, emphasizing how each treatment plan is customized to meet your unique dental needs. If you’ve been considering straightening your teeth but are hesitant about traditional braces, Invisalign could be the perfect solution for you. This guide will cover everything you need to know about Invisalign, from the initial consultation to the completion of your personalized treatment.
Quick Invisalign Overview
Invisalign is a modern approach to teeth straightening that uses a series of custom-made, clear aligners. These aligners are virtually invisible, making them an excellent choice for those who want to improve their smile without the noticeable appearance of metal braces.
The Personalized Invisalign Process at Brownstown Dental Care
1. Initial Consultation: Every Invisalign journey begins with a personalized consultation. During this appointment, we discuss your dental health goals and evaluate whether Invisalign is the right option for you. This consultation is crucial as it sets the foundation for your tailored treatment plan.
2. 3D Scanning: Instead of traditional goopy impressions, we use the advanced iTero scanner to create a detailed 3D image of your teeth. This digital scan is more accurate and comfortable than traditional methods. It ensures a perfect fit for your aligners by eliminating potential distortions that can occur with physical molds.
3. Customized Treatment Plan: Using the 3D scan, we design a custom treatment plan using Invisalign’s advanced software. This software maps out the exact movements of your teeth and predicts the progression of your treatment. Each aligner is crafted to apply precise pressure to specific teeth, gradually moving them into the desired position.
How Invisalign Works: Tailored to Your Needs
Invisalign aligners work by applying controlled force to your teeth. Each set of aligners is worn for about two weeks before moving on to the next set in the series. Here’s a breakdown of the key aspects:
Comfort and Fit: Invisalign aligners are made with smooth, comfortable, BPA-free plastic. They fit snugly over your teeth and are designed to minimize irritation to your gums and cheeks. If any discomfort arises, adjustments can be made to ensure the aligners fit perfectly.
Regular Monitoring: Throughout your treatment, you will have regular check-ups at Brownstown Dental Care. These appointments allow us to monitor your progress and make any necessary adjustments. Most treatments last between six months to a year, although this can vary based on individual needs.
Advantages of Personalized Invisalign Treatment
1. Aesthetics: The clear aligners are virtually invisible, making them a discreet option for teeth straightening.
2. Convenience: Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign aligners can be removed for eating, brushing, and flossing. This makes maintaining oral hygiene much easier and allows you to enjoy your favorite foods without restrictions.
3. Predictability and Customization: Invisalign’s advanced software provides a visual representation of your treatment plan. This allows you to see the expected results before you even begin, giving you a clear understanding of the journey ahead. The treatment is highly customized, ensuring that each movement is tailored to your specific needs.
4. Comfort: With no metal brackets or wires, Invisalign aligners reduce the likelihood of discomfort and mouth sores. They are custom-made to fit your teeth precisely, ensuring a comfortable experience throughout your treatment.
Completing Your Invisalign Treatment
As you near the end of your treatment, we may take another 3D scan to create refinement aligners. These aligners ensure that every tooth is in its perfect position. This final step is essential for achieving the best possible results.
